Privacy Policy

wax is a place to rate albums and keep a record shelf. This page explains what we collect when you use the website or the wax mobile apps, and what we do with it.

• Your email address and password, or your Google account email if you sign in with Google.
• Your profile: username, display name, bio, and profile photo if you add them.
• What you add to wax: ratings, reviews, shelf and top-album choices, likes, and who you follow.
• A device token, if you turn on push notifications in the mobile app.
• Basic technical data such as IP address and browser type, which our hosting providers log.

Your username, display name, bio, photo, reviews, ratings, shelf, and follower and following lists are visible to other people on wax. Your email address is not.

We use your information to run wax: signing you in, showing your profile and activity, sending notifications you ask for, and keeping the service safe. We don't sell your personal information, and we don't show ads.

On the website, we use Vercel Web Analytics to understand aggregate traffic, such as which pages are visited and how people find wax. When you load a page, your browser sends Vercel information about the visit, like the page address, where you came from, and technical details about your browser and device. We use this to count and compare page views, not to build a profile of you, and we don't add your account details to it.

Vercel processes this data under its own privacy policy. The wax mobile apps don't use this service.

• Supabase for sign-in and storing your data.
• Vercel for hosting the website and for website analytics.
• Google, if you choose to sign in with Google.
• Apple Music, to look up album details and artwork when you search.

These providers handle data under their own privacy policies.

When you share a top-albums poster, review, or recap, wax generates an image from public profile information. Where it goes after that is up to you and the app you share it with.

You can edit your profile and delete your own reviews in wax. To delete your account and the data tied to it, contact us and we'll remove it.

wax isn't meant for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their information.

We may update this policy. When we do, we'll change the date at the top of this page.
